He has been making sculptures using a wide variety of media, particularly gold, precious metals and lacquer (urushi).
The main theme of his work has been the human condition (kokoro).
Three of his works were sold to the British Museum in 1982 and 1984, exploring aspects of spirituality through motifs of nature.
He curates his own museum in the forests of Kiyosato and continues to further his own work.
There is a chance to meet the sculptor Haruhiko Tanaka at the museum.
Open on weekends only from 10am to 5pm. Closes from December untill the third week of April.
